A
bare house with four white walls and tiled flooring, sounds boring right?
Imagine if the flooring looked dirty and odd and white walls looked like people
just out of a funeral, you would die of sorrow each day. Living in such a
famished looking space does not seem such a good idea after all. You would
rather invest some money and time in getting the spaces done up properly. But,
you don’t have the time to look into these matters. So, why not hire an interior designer instead. They would
help you beautify the space as per your needs.
Most
people refer to an interior designer as someone who can creatively arrange the furniture
together. This is an art is what people feel. But, they see it in the wrong
light. If it was plain creativity, there are millions of creative artists who
fail to understand the aspects of designing interiors. It is art alright but
combined with a lot of science. You need to understand the mechanisms of a
house to design interiors. You also should have a practical knowledge of what
is found where in a house before you turn in your plan to the client.
How
does an interior designer work? The designer
sits along with the architects, construction people and electricians to
understand the space of your home. Once he/she understands the safety
guidelines, the construction site and the way the structure has been raised,
the designer finds it easy to plan out your interior space. Remember, the
designer cannot just plan laying a piece of furniture where it is not supposed
to be. Hence this is necessary. Once the entire structural plan fits into the
mind of the designer, he/she has a meeting with the client.
What
happens in the client meeting is a detailed discussion of how the client wants
his interior spaces to be and what should be highlighted. During this meeting,
the client furnishes aspects of his personality before the interior designer, which allows the designer to unleash his/her
creativity. The approximate budget is also looked into in this meeting. An interior designer would not be able to
work out the act if the budget stays unknown.
Now,
the budget and highlights are known to the designer. So, it is time to design a
layout for the client. He would model the interior spaces as per the discussion
and his/her understanding of the client’s personality. Once this is done, this
plan is shown to the client. Approval on this plan allows the designer to start
with the actual project.
The
interior designers are often faced with a challenge of fixing up the available
designs within your budget and that too in a creative manner such that the
entire house looks good at the end. So, it is not just about creativity, it
takes a good amount of knowledge also.
This
career option is indeed growing in the present times. You would find that
designing interiors is no longer restricted to hotels.
